Our History

The Brush & Broom Restaurant, nestled alongside the Hill Brush Company’s new factory, is a testament to a unique family vision. Chairman Philip Coward led the inspiration to build a modern factory at Norwood Park, where the company could expand beyond its original premises in Mere. His son, Charlie, added to this vision by creating a welcoming bistro-style restaurant, a quirky brush & gift shop, all crafted to offer a memorable experience for visitors.

Now run by Charlie’s wife, Kerstin, The Brush & Broom Restaurant & Shop combines warmth and exceptional British cuisine, featuring modern takes on classic dishes that celebrate local flavours. This vibrant community hub beautifully connects the family’s passion for food with Hillbrush’s rich heritage and craftsmanship.

Visitors can also explore the UK’s first brush-making museum, brought to life through the Coward family’s commitment to honouring the company’s legacy and sharing its story.
